I need opinions regarding a political issue?

that is asked by my sociology professor. The topic is in regards to marijuana. The question is should it be legalized. I will hold back my opinion but I will like to get yours. Please refrain from making the suggestion that it is a gateway drug, due to the research performed in regards to this topic, discredits that theory and proves it to be a generalization. For people whom are against please post why, for the people whom are for, please post why. Thank you in advance for an intelligent thought out post regarding this matter. P.s please take into consideration the affects of alcohol vs. marijuana.
